This movie looked pretty stupid in the commercials. Somehow it ended up with a 79% on RottenTomatoes.com, so I figured I'd check it out while I was on a plane. I really should stop reading RT. It's been really useless this year.
Mr. Peabody and Sherman pissed me off in the first 15 minutes and I couldn't finish. So my critiques may not be completely valid. But my desire to not finish should also tell you something. Usually curiosity alone will make me finish a movie.
What did the movie do wrong? Butchering historical events for one. At least they show Marie Antoinette as an old-ish woman, but I found it absurd when the movie lies about Marie Antoinette's "let them eat cake" quote, which is ALWAYS misrepresented in Hollywood, then turns around and chastises other history as "apocryphal."
Shortly after that hypocryphal event, I had to shut the movie off. "It's not normal for children to bite" is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Aside from that, I have no interest in a movie about a dog who has adopted a boy when it then treats the dog as a normal dog. It's a stupid plot. I'm not interested.
