I saw the commercials for this and just thought it looked silly. Turns out it's one of the most entertaining movies of 2015. I've watched it many times now and its still fun. I think the commercials failed to represent the comedic, tongue in cheek style. Alas, movie commercials these days are quite awful.
The Kingsman are a secret group of British gentleman who save the world for dangerous people. They are not affiliated with the government, though they somehow only recruit young military.
Unfortunately they lose a member (dude from Friends knockoff Coupling) to
Sam Jackson with a lisp (crazy but it works) and his henchwoman with sword legs (one of the reasons I didn't want to see this originally, it's over the top). Needing to recruit a new Kingsman, Mr Darcy recruits Eggsy, a low class troubled youth who happens to be smart, caring and the son of a Kingsman recruit who died during a mission. Of course Eggsy is the hero, so we all know what happens. The process is a prolonged version of Men in Black.
Plot is fairly standard, but they embrace it, poke fun at it. The writing is very aware that this is a play on Bond and other secret agent films. I like that.
Plus there's some really awesome violence. And Mark Hamill!
